Northamptonshire salon group Hensmans styled over 30 models in three days for a fashion shoot by final year students at the University of Northampton.
The annual fashion shoot is a chance for third year fashion and textiles students at the universtiy to show off their final collections. Including, on this occasion, a red dress made entirely from hair by student Charday Patterson. Inspired by Christopher Kane pieces, the dress saw Charday weave plaits made of synthetic hair to create stunning shapes and designs.
Gemma Hensman, Gavin McIntyre, Dawn Anderton - a graduate of the university herself - Kelsie O’Connor, James Campbell, Siobhann Ramswell and Carol Straughan spent hours of time collaborating with students to produce their final looks with hair briefs to match the fashion pieces.
Jane Mills, Senior Lecturer in Fashion says: We’ve worked with Hensmans for years now and it really is all about teamwork. It’s so important for our students to work with experts outstanding business partners like Hensmans and understand how associations like these work. They also learn new skills for shoot work in the real world. For them to see the make-up, hair and final look all come together is a fantastic experience. It’s always a pleasure working with Hensmans, they have a great team spirit and we all respect each other’s disciplines and ideas immensely."
Gemma Hensman added: "Fashion and hair have always been an essential partnership and this is a brilliant event in our calendar of collaborations with the fashion team and the university in general. We always thoroughly enjoy working with the students at the University of Northampton on their end of year shoot."
