Hairstyle hits and misses at the american music awards

The 2010 American Music Awards featured a real array of hairstyle hits and misses. From Katy Perry's surprisingly demure look to Ke$ha's mohican, there was something for every taste.Rising star Nicki Minaj is known for her daring looks, and this dip-dyed green do is no different. I love that Nicky is taking risks with her look, and pushing the boundaries of what we usually expect from r'n'b stars. This blunt look is half Barbie girl, have punk - I love it!

Pink recently announced she's expecting a baby, and she definitely appears to be glowing with health. I love this silvery shade on her - see, told you grey was back! The cool quiffed style really suits Pink too, and shows off those earrings perfectly.

Rihanna can do no wrong really - even her unusual experiments look more like a style statement than a bad hair day. I love these natural-looking curls, and the ruby red is not only very flattering, but also on-trend.

I know that Taylor Swift's curls are what she's famous for - but perhaps that's why she looks so good with straight hair; it just looks so different. This grown-up style, paired with a demure black outfit, is something new for Taylor - I approve!

Fergie, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus all looked fabulous - but there's not too much to say about their looks; luxe, glossy waves, and effortless colour.

Both Fergie and Miley opted for a centre parting, whereas Katy kept her retro look with a deep side-part, sweeping over one eye.

Now for the hairstyle no-nos from the night!

Avril has her own look and she certainly rocks it, but I'm not a fan of these pink streaks. Don't get me wrong - I love punky colour, and this pastel shade is great - it's just the application reminds me of my days with hair mascara. Maybe something more subtle, or a dip-dye effect would work better.

I love supermodel Heidi Klum, and she's definitely a master of updos - but this quiff doesn't do much for me. It looks rock solid!

Kelly Osbourne continues to look fab with her weightloss and fashionista makeover, but this dolly hair doesn't suit her particularly well, and I also feel the blonde is a bit brassy. She always looks fab with vintage styles, and I'd prefer to see that than this beauty pageant style.

Finally, rock chick Ke$ha is renowned for her out-there styles, and I love the fact she experiments. I love her gold studded eyebrows, and even the metallic lips - just not convinced by the Jedward quiff!
