Hairdressers are always up for raising money for charity and this year's Comic Relief appeal proved no exception.

Salon owner, Laura Paige said: "We had a real laugh getting dressed up and the boys' legs got a good airing, We'd like to thank our clients for their generosity."

The team at hob Barnet took part in a 24 hour hair-a-thon extravaganza for the charity last Monday

hob Barnet opened from 8am to 8am, with each stylist attempting 24 clients. All clients were asked to 'pose with a red nose' for a souvenir print which will also make money for the charity.

£2,250 has been raised so far and the proceeds will go to Comic Relief which raises money to fund projects across Africa and the UK aimed at disadvantaged and vulnerable people facing poverty.

comicrelief2.jpgDirector of the hob salons group, Paul Simbler said, "We're very proud of salon owner Eric and assistant manager Stefano and the rest of the team who put so much time and effort into making this a success."

Many more salons across the country have been raising money for Comic relief, including Sue Jane Hairdressing, Horley, who has come up with fun ways to contribute.

The salon is holding a lucky dip with tickets at £2 each and prizes include hair cuts and hair products. There is also a 'guess the weight of the cake' competition at £1 a go.

Sue Jane, salon owner, said, "One of our clients baked the cake for the raffle. The whole team and the clients are really getting into the spirit of Comic Relief."

Throughout the day, clients made donations to support the team's efforts and the staff handed over all their tips to raise £200 for the fund.

At Rush Brighton the team found two worthy causes - Comic Relief and local charity Sweet Peas - to fundraise for.
