Salon International is packed with inspiration for budding stylists, with industry experts on stage sharing their advice, a plethora of products being demonstrated and inspirational imagery in the form of HJ's British Hairdressing Awards gallery.
Trends are born at Salon International - here are some of the most popular trends in styling and finishing evident at this year's show.

Crimping remains a session styling favourite, whether used to add volume all over or simply to add textural interest to an updo.
Clipso used crimping through the lengths of the hair on this model to create a modern updo, while Diva Professional crimped all over and brushed out slightly to create a mass of wild texture.

Inspired by catwalk hair from the likes of Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen, heavily-embellished styles featuring humble hair accessories were a mini-trend at Salon International.
The Wella Generation Now team exaggerated waves in the models hair by creating a line of golden grips, while Ciente placed aluminium clips all over the scalp.

Fantasy-inspired texture for avant garde styles doesn't have to be scary, as these stunning styles demonstrate.
ghd created undulating waves using coils of woven hair, while TONI&GUY used tightly bound rope braids to create a vertiginous, organic updo.

Supersized quiffs are a session styling favourite, but with some subtle tweaking can also be a flattering, salon-friendly hit. Drawing the cheekbones back and focussing attention to the eyes, these styles from TONI&GUY and Clipso may be supersized but a smaller version still makes a statement.

Romantic curls are set to be a summer smash, with texture and flyaways, as seen at ghd, enhancing tight ringlets for a touchable finish.
Pastel shades, as seen at Schwarzkopf Professionals show on the Fellowship stage, add an extra feminine touch.

Red carpet updos with vertiginous levels of volume proved to be a crowd-pleaser, with enormous buns positioned both low and high on the head.
At Matrix hair had an editorial feel, with a sculpted shape and sweep of hair adding an extra dimension, while Patrick Cameron introduced sheer glamour with his voluminous updo - perfect for wannabe Cheryl Coles.
