Hair colour trends for autumn/winter 2010
Silent fireworks of colour will storm the high-street salons this coming season.
Blonde will continue to be a popular staple hair colour, but brunettes will radiate through, rustic reds will remain luminous, and petrol blue will emit an ethereal dimensional hue.
"Deep, rich and luxurious hair colours will complement the luxe fabrics and trends for the season. Soft, warm golds, camels and coppers give the illusion of a full-head colour, but are intricately woven with fine pieces. The classic winter colours of mahogany, auburn and chocolate will remain but will be infused with lighter pieces of honey and copper for a dramatic effect. An all over global colour will enhance the stronger shapes of the season and will incorporate bolder retro-influenced mustard and golds, which were seen on the Chloé catwalk. The 70s influence will be strong as a bohemian look is created by using deep sensual honeys and caramels, again fused together to create a global colour. The ultimate bohemian girl Sienna Miller is rocking this sleek, winter look as she blends her existing colour with the addition of vanillas and warming honeys."

"Contrast and texture are both key trends. Look out for deep, dark brunettes brought to life with accents of blues, oranges and yellows. This is the best season yet to try something new, as we see a return to more partial colouring. I think this move opens up the doors for blondes to try a hint of brunette or vice versa. On the other hand, we could see vibrancy increased with brighter versions of the base colour introduced to accentuate the tones within."

"For my brunette clients, I plan to keep their bases a dark chocolate truffle hue, but inject thick golden highlights starting from the mid-sections. Fun and flirty looks will spice up the winter months - think Lily Aldridge. Redheads will lean towards a single process tone - no highlights just vibrant, deep mahogany tones. For this must-have look of the season, think Julianne Moore; a luscious shade of red that's full of intense shine. This season's blonde will be emulate the California blonde with a shade darker base to give an added dimension."

"After the hot blonde summer, tones are moving from the pretty sun-kissed golden highlights to deeper tobacco and mocha sheens. Embrace silky and creamy tones for a lighter yet warmer, winter style. The fashion-forward celebrities already favouring this trend are Blake Lively and Fearne Cotton, which complement the season's utility trend. Brunettes are leaving behind dry, faded holiday locks and moving into deeper rustic influenced glosses for this autumn winter."

"The seasonal colours will be influenced by the new tones of camel and cashmere on the catwalk. The current pale stark blonde will be replaced by adding in milky beige and warmer soft nude tones. This will give the hair depth and texture to work within the Winter fashion trends. The exiting news is that there is a new bombshell in town - oxtail red is going to be a popular colour, as seen on Karen Elson, Paloma Faith and Florence Welch. This is a mix of cool red/copper and warm red/copper tones, which can be an all over look or personalised by visually adding slices or fine lights throughout natural or coloured dark blonde, light brown and brown hair."
