Hair and barber council appoint new chief policy officer The Hair and Barber Council has announced that Collette Osborne has joined the Council as the new chief policy officer, as of 4 April 2022. Further developing the already strong relationship the Council has forged with the Personal Care department at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, together with Ministers, MPs and other industry organisations, Collette’s role will also focus on liaising with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Hairdressing, Barbering and Cosmetology which the Hair & Barber Council host, speaking on matters of internal and external policy, informing members with ‘actual’ industry information, and liaising with the other industry organisations. Registrar Keith Conniford said: “This role is pivotal to the ongoing relationship the Council has with Government, our members and the hair, barber, and beauty sector overall. “Collette’s knowledge, background and incredible attention to detail made her an ideal candidate for this role. She is also a large salon owner in Nottinghamshire which gives her a strong practitioner perspective on industry issues. She is completely committed to mandatory registration and believes that for our sector to grow and indeed survive, having a unified voice to Government is absolutely essential.” Collette Osborne added: “I am honoured and excited to accept this new role with the Hair & Barber Council and will work together with the Council to strive to make a real difference to the future success of our industry. “It is now clearly more important than ever before that we are unified, represented and clearly heard when dealing with all colleagues and agencies, to ensure we have a clear strategic approach to achieve the aims and objectives so needed for the sector. “I would urge anyone who hasn’t already done so to register with the Hair and Barber Council to strengthen the unity and the voice of our industry.” You can find out more about the Hair and Barber Council here.
