Glamour magazine's women of the year awards 2011: updos

While ponytails may have been the popular choice at last night's Glamour Women of the Year Awards, some celebrities opted for less trend-led updos.
Reality star Kim Kardashian chose a dramatically sleek look, with hair centre-parted and secured in to a tight bun. From the queen of big hair and blow-dries, this is quite a demure look - but one that allows her mega-lashes and huge earrings to sparkle.
We usually see popstrel Eliza Doolittle with her Rapunzel lengths loose and curly, but for last night's awards the star piled them high in a curly updo. It makes a change to see those curls off her face to show off her beautiful features, but perhaps hair down would have kept her shoulders warm...
Fellow popstar Ellie Goulding is back to a bombshell blonde shade after dalliances with purple and pink, and this pearlescent shade suits her perfectly.
Matched with pink lips and glowing skin, Ellie's lengths are styled in to a loose updo, which shows off her undercut to perfection.
