Ghd celebrates 16 years of innovations and inspirations Who can remember what styling was like before ghd came along? It was slow, laborious and hair often ended up frazzled. But when the brand launched in 2001, it had no idea what effect it would have on hairdressing worldwide. For the first time clients could create the salon look at home, stylists had a tool they could use quickly and safely wherever they needed it, and it made professional products and tools a must-have purchase with every salon visit. It soon became the norm for clients to spend in excess of £100 on a heated tool. In fact, today, four stylers are sold every minute across the globe. Not a bad feat for a brand that started with three men from Yorkshire. We look back at its timeline from the past 16 years, with some of the styling highlights:

2001

Launch of the first ghd I styler, sold exclusively through salons.

2003

First salon-only brand to advertise on TV

2004

Straighteners become stylers, with the launch of the III styler collection. ghd collaboration with Breast Cancer Care launches, and has so far raised more than £10 million globally for breast cancer charities through the sales of limited edition pink stylers.

2005

Recognised as one of the fastest growing companies in the UK by The Sunday Times.

2008

ghd limited editions launch for the first time - there's been 30 limited editions so far.

2009

UK dedicated research and development facility opens in Cambridge committed to product innovation and improvements in technology.

2001

2012

ghd's first hairdryer launches, ghd air.

2015
