Clayde Baumann won Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year at
HJ's 2014 British Hairdressing Awards - here he reveals the secrets behind one of his most striking images.
1. Draw a crescent section from off-centre to the top of the ear, isolating the hair at the temple and clip it away. Continue the section curved up the round of the head and down to above the occipital. Mirror this on the opposite side.
2. Using a prelightener, follow a root and midlength application on the mirrored surface sections and process until you achieve a suitable undertone for the target shade.
3. Rinse, shampoo, apply antioxidant, rinse and rough-dry.
4. Begin by applying the lightest tone to the root area, using a root stretch application. Apply the second, more vibrant tone to the midlengths, overlapping to create a seamless finish.
5. Rinse, treat appropriately and style as desired.
