Find out more about the diverse inspiration at fellowship members’ night Members of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing had the opportunity to showcase their work this week, as Members’ Night hit London. The event was open to all members and hairdressers had four minutes each to present their work. The audience included fellow members, sponsors and industry heroes who also gave invaluable feedback. The president of the Fellowship, Ken Picton hosted the event with Simon Shaw, Fellowship chairperson. The guests had the chance to see the debut presentation from the ClubStar Art Team 2019, as well as to the 10 salons that presented their work. On the night, the guest of honour was Nick Irwin, session stylist and F.A.M.E. team leader. Ken had the chance to sit down with him and discuss Nick’s history with The Fellowship. His inspirational career, extensive experience and open approach to ongoing education made for an engaging interview.

What Was Presented On Stage?

1. India and Issey from Sculpture Salon opened up the show with bold colours and strong shapes. They presented blending shades of red and gold with loose waves and shattered layers with system lilac tones. diverse fellowship members night 2. Marchella International’s Junior Artistic Team presented the salon. With some of the presenters being just 16 years old, they showed a variety of avant-garde updos, packed with textural detail. 3. Yaxley Hair & Beauty made a bold impression with their debut stage appearance, showcasing diverse shapes formed from braids and banded ponytails. 4. Animal Instinct was the starting point for Amandege. Shapes, silhouettes and shades of South Africa featured in the textured updos. 5. Then bold colours took centre stage for Ena salon’s Sensory collection. The world’s first cyborg artist, Neil Harbisson, inspired the hairstyles. Looks included a bold pink flat top style, a blonde bob and a brunette crop streaked with retro neon stripes. 6. Jason Liddiard Salon opened the second half of the show, with a trio of textured looks formed around braids, rolls and curls. 7. Pantone’s Colour of the Year is Living Coral and it was the star of the show for Emily’s Hairdressing. They presented a trio of looks in the dazzling pinkish orange tone. 8. Luke Hawkins from the Marvellous Hair Company made his solo stage debut with a mini men’s collection, featuring three mod-inspired male looks. 9. Simon Tuckwell took to the stage for his first show as Tuckwell & Co. The salon had the session director's support, Jack, and presented a post-grunge-inspired collection with bold neon looks in pink and yellow. diverse fellowship members night 10. The Gina Conway Aveda team presented their latest collection: Deja New. It presented a diverse take on sculpturing the hair with dramatic silhouettes in curls, waves and sleek textures. Lastly, the 2019 ClubStar Art Team closed the event, debuting their presentation. The neon colour was the star of the show, with three looks featuring bold colour tones. Sewn threads and silk ribbons were used to create a pattern and a corset braid. The cropped look featured a splash of yellow through the fringe.
