Fellowship for british hairdressing's fashion focus
The fifth Fellowship for British Hairdressing's Fashion Focus inspired Manchester at the weekend with shows by some of the top names in the industry.
Held at the Lowry Theatre, the event was compered by HJ's deputy editor Ruth Hunsley and hairdresser Ken Picton.
Eighteen teams presented more than 30 models in categories including cutting, colouring, directional, men's, long hair and texture.
The evening started with a presentation from the new F.A.M.E team, who presented their trends for the coming months. Short smooth styles were contrasted with textured finishes.
Beautiful blondes were presented by Mahogany and Sassoon Academy, while texture and curl was in abundance in the shows by Francesco Group and Hooker & Young.
Short, sharp cuts were presented by Marc Antoni and P-Kai with quiffs and length the main trend for men from Peter Prosser and Keith Hall.
As well as talking about the main trends for this season, the stylists finished their looks live on stage and spoke about issues affecting them and the industry.
"It doesn't matter what fashion or style you are offering your client, it is essential it suits not just their face and hair but their lifestyle as well," said Bruno Marc from Marc Antoni.
HJ's 2008 North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year Paul Ferguson created a stunningly beautiful curly head of hair and said how clients want to look feminine and sexy. "Curly hair doesn't have to mean difficult hair."
