With just five days until New York Fashion Week kicks off the month-long schedule of worldwide catwalk shows, there's just about time to familiarise yourself with some of the most important names in fashion. Over the next few days I'll be introducing you to the bloggers, journalists, models and designers who make the four fashion weeks such a spectacle of style.

Proving that blogging can be a lucrative career, Diane Pernet of A Shaded View on Fashion and Scott Shuman of The Sartorialist are regular fashion week faces. While Diane is more likely to be found in front of the camera, with her trademark black veil firmly in place, Scott is generally found behind the lens, snapping pictures for his famous street style blog. As Cathy Horyn of the New York Times, said: "Everybody loves being photographed by Scott. If he spots you in the crowd, it's kind of a validation." Want to up your chances? Check this tongue-in-cheek guide!

Susanna Lau of Style Bubble, is regularly voted the most influential fashion blogger on the planet. Her thousands of fans tune in daily to enjoy her cheerful, enthusiastic take on trends, and her adventurous outfits are the stuff of legend. Now a regular on fashion week front rows worldwide, Susie is a true style icon. She also recently had her hair done by the lovely Charlie Le Mindu!

14-year-old Tavi Gevinson is perhaps better known as Style Rookie. Her blog has already seen her escalate to levels of fame unheard of by most high schoolers, no doubt helped by her front row presence at Marc Jacobs and Dior. In fact, at last year's Dior show Tavi got in to trouble for blocking Grazia's view with her enormous headpiece... Her hair has been blue, grey, and most shades in between, but she's currently a redhead. By the time fashion week happens, this may very well have changed...

Giving the ladies a run for their money, Tommy Ton and Bryan Grey-Yambao. These two stylish chaps head up Jak & Jil and BryanBoy, respectively.

Jak & Jil is the place to spot must-have designer shoes, handbags and all the best-dressed people at fashion weeks worldwide. A must-click throughout the month of shows, this should be the first port of call for any trend hunter.
BryanBoy is the personal blog of Filipino fashionista, uh, Bryan. Witty, smart, and always chic, it's no wonder Bryan has been so widely accepted in the fashion industry. Often found posing on the front row, the intrepid blogger has even had a handbag - or should that be manbag? - named after him by none other than Marc Jacobs.
