Economic saving hacks to reduce costs in your salon

With energy bills rising, many have been looking for effective ways to help keep their costs down at home. Business owners have been seeking for ways to reduce costs in salon, too, however with things such as hot water and electricity being a necessity in the hair industry, is there anything that can be done? Salon software company iSalon suggests taking a quick look around your salon to try and identify where you could save money. One such example is lighting – ensure you’re using LED bulbs that are cost efficient, and don’t leave lights on in rooms which aren’t being used, such as the bathroom or staffroom. It also proposes using single use towels to reduce costs in your salon, by avoiding using your washing machine and tumble dryer regularly – plus, towels such as EasyDry are environmentally friendly, as they help reduce water consumption and are biodegradable. However, if you are sceptical about switching from standard towels, then you could look into whether your energy provider offers off-peak discounts, as this could indicate a smarter time to be using appliances such as your washer. Meanwhile, OSMO Ambassador and business owner Ollie Foster suggests looking into a water pressure system such as ECOHEADS, which helps to increase your water pressure without using more water. Ollie also advises salon staff to ensure their backwash is working for them. He explains: “The backwash is your shop window for retail, so ensure you’re talking up the products you’re using and how they can be beneficial i.e scalp cleansing, thickening, moisturising etc. You’ve got a captive audience in that chair, and they want to hear what you have to say to ensure their cut lasts.” Plus, with energy bills rising, now more than ever you'll want to keep your clients coming back to you. Could loyalty schemes be the key? Take a read.
