Daniel galvin is inspired by fireworks night!
Today is Fireworks Night and I'm sure hairdressers across the land will be looking at bonfires and fireworks for inspiration. Daniel Galvin created one of the most iconic colour images in the 1970s using fireworks as his inspiration. "I have always been passionate about hair colour. "So by the end of the 1960s I started using silk and nylon dyes, I invented Crazy Colour in order to shock the industry into considering hair colour. In a series of photographs shot for Vogue by Barry Lategan, I created blue afros, bright red hems on thick bowl fringes
and peacock stripes in long, thick manes.
This is our final picture in Barry Lategan's series for Vogue. We released it on Bonfire Night in 1971 and gave it the title 'Going Out With a Bang!'
We saw it as the end of Crazy Colour but it wasn't the end of hair colour. The concept worked - women started wearing hair colour to complement their complexion; to bring out their eyes. It stopped being a practical measure and started being a beauty measure. Early Crazy Colour went out with a bang... and I never looked back."
