The Critics Choice Awards took place in Hollywood last night; the second major ceremony of award season 2014.
Hot on the heels of
the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards saw a slightly smaller selection of stars hit the red carpet - but some great hair nevertheless.
Critics Choice Awards 2014: Best Tressed

Adele Exarchopoulos opted for a sleek ponytail, similar to the style she wore earlier this week
at the Golden Globes. Dressed in
a statement Louis Vuitton gown, this simple and subtle style is the perfect accompaniment to let those feathery shoulders make a statement by themselves.

Jessica Chastain dazzled, as always, with her copper-coloured locks. While she tends towards retro waves usually, this time she changed things up with a plaited updo. Braided along the scalp on one side and gathered in a low bun, this is a gorgeous red-carpet look for an occasion that's not
quite as dressy as some of the other ceremonies.

Camila Alves added interest to her ponytail with a knot at the nape of her neck -
perhaps she was inspired by Jared Leto and his manbun? A glossy high-shine finish to show off her colour enhanced the look further.

Newly-announced Oscar nominee Lupita Nyong'o continued her reign of impeccable red-carpet dressing in
a sleek white Calvin Klein cut-out column dress. After her
Grace Jones-inspired side-parted style at the Golden Globes, this more simple look nevertheless complements her outfit perfectly.

A simple blow-dry for Amy Adams - who with that gorgeous hair and glossy colour, probably doesn't really need much else. Raked over in a side-parting, this elegant look is seriously understated but is a sleek choice none the less.

Sandra Bullock kept things similarly understated, with a sleek and straight look that shows off the subtle tones in her hair perfectly. While this is an uber-elegant look on Sandy, I can't wait to see her pull it out of the bag with something a bit more exciting at the Oscars in March.

Cate Blanchett also opted for a straight and sleek look, with a side parting adding a slightly vintage feel to the look. I adore the colour on her - which is a perfect partner to that tomato red lip.
