Communication a vital lesson for colour project delegates
Amanda Dicker, co-founder of The Chapel, was the latest leading name to share her wealth of knowledge with the delegates of the Fellowship Colour Project.
The project is aimed at qualified colourists under the age of 25 and is masterminded by Mark Creed, vice president and chancellor of the Fellowship, and Jo O'Neill, of TONI&GUY, who welcome colour masters to educate the young hairdressers.
Amanda's workshop, held in the Chapel, Islington, had a communication theme and Amanda encouraged the delegates to really look round at the imagery that is bombarding their clients: from magazines to adverts to home colour kits.
They then used this new way of looking at colour to come up with new ways to communicate colour in the salon.
As well as the theory, the session included a practical element as the young colourists experimented with techniques and colours on mannequin heads with a view to learning from mistakes and making it a positive experience.
"I'd recommend the course to anyone wanting to rekindle their relationship with colour," says Amanda.
"As stylists, we need to keep the magic to keep clients coming back, and to leave them wanting more, and everyone benefits from taking a new look at this familiar area of the business."
