Lisa_Shepherd_models.jpgClynol salon teams enjoyed an action-packed agenda in Leicester, as the Vision 2010 roadshow rolled in to town. Delegates arrived from across the East Midlands for an action-packed day of learning, with an eclectic programme of presentations in the afternoon and a live hair show in the evening.

Mark Palmer Green & Blacks.jpgThe afternoon's seminars kicked off with an inspiring presentation from marketing sensation, Mark Palmer of Green & Black's. The former Marketer of the Year discussed how he increased turnover in the business from £1.3 to £40 million, to make Green & Black's the fastest-growing chocolate company in the UK.

Jason Brierly Of Hair @ Jibe.jpgNext up was Jason Brierley from the Hair@Jibe salon group, who has seen the annual turnover of the retail side of his business grow from £6,000 to a whopping £90,000, now accounting for 25% of salon revenue. Jason's powerful presentation provided practical 'how-to' advice to a 200-strong audience of salon owners, managers and their teams, leaving the room buzzing, motivated - and ready to sell!

After a rousing afternoon of presentations, it was time for the evening entertainment, with appearances from Clynol's three leading ladies; Lisa Shepherd, Sharon Peake and Tracey Devine. The Clynol Protégé team provided support throughout, assisting and learning as part of their year of training.

Tracey Devine show models.jpgThe show was opened by HJ's Scottish Hairdressers of the Year - past and present - Tracey Devine and Janer Stewart of Angels. A high impact crew of street-dancing models performed a high energy routine, which set the stage perfectly for the dynamic duo's collection. The theme was 'funky fun-house'; a kitsch take on urban looks, inspired in part by Pineapple Dance Studios and completed with makeup from Lee Pearson and styling from Clare Frith. Playful, fun hairdressing at its best, the Angels team shared their influences and provided a glimpse of what's to come with their next collection.

Sharon Peake show models.jpgNext to the stage was double Hall of Fame member Sharon Peake, joined by her new artistic director, Adam Bryant of Ethos. Their collection was inspired by horror films including Cat People and The Hunger, with animalistic styles based on the idea of metamorphosis. Sharon showed off her creativity, forming pointed 'cat ears' on one model's hair using a kitchen knife! The dramatic styles wowed the audience, while providing a trademark touch of the avant garde.

Lisa Shepherd models.jpgThe eagerly anticipated finale brought all the glitz and glam expected of the leading lady of colour, Lisa Shepherd. Working alongside Tim Scott-Wright - the youngest ever hairdresser to reach the Hall of Fame - Lisa debuted a glamorous, 80s-inspired collection. Models strutted on stage with their hair covered by chic Swarovski-studded skull caps, building anticipation for the concealed colour spectacle beneath. Revealed live on stage, the five very different looks brought a sexy sophistication to retro big hair.

Clynol's Technical Manager and compère for the evening, Stephen McDowell, concluded, "This has been the perfect way to bring together some of the most amazing hairdressing talent in the UK today. Three individual shows with one mission: getting behind a Vision for 2010. The aim of the show was to intrigue, inform and inspire, and according to the feedback, it was mission accomplished!"

The tour resumes in the autumn, with dates to be revealed shortly.
