Charlie Miller, whose eponymous salons are spread throughout Edinburgh, received an OBE for services to hairdressing in the Queen's 2012 New Year's Honours List.
Charlie was presented with his OBE from Her Majesty The Queen in the presence of his wife, Janet, and their two sons, Jason and Joshua, at an investiture ceremony held at the Palace of Holyrood House in Edinburgh.
The group launched in 1965, eventually expanding to five salons throughout the city with an internationally-renowned artistic team headed up by Charlie's eldest son Jason and daughter-in-law India.
After hanging up his scissors in 1998, Charlie has continued to focus on the company's PR, marketing and business development and also works closely with the Teenage Cancer Trust, helping to deliver Hair 4 U - a service dedicated to providing real hair wigs to teenage cancer patients.
Charlie is also a patron of Castlebrae High School in Edinburgh and on the Board of the Centre for Confidence and Wellbeing.
Charlie said: "I am deeply grateful to Her Majesty The Queen. I share this award with my talented and supportive family and the many people with whom I have worked along the journey. It's a beautiful happening in my life."
