Charlie le Mindu presented his seventh collection at London Fashion Week, showcasing a series of headpieces inspired a glamorous vision of 1930s futurism.
Speaking at the presentation, Charlie told HJ: "I was inspired by art deco, and wanted to combine softer colours with strong shapes."
Charlie also revealed that he'd been inspired by French baroque, with traditional Toile de Jouey fabric lining the insides of several pieces. "It looks extremely chic when you see a glimpse when the model is wearing it" he explained.
This season marked a real return to couture techniques for Charlie, with bold, clean lines and geometric shapes created, as in previous seasons, from high quality natural human hair by Hairdreams extensions. Working in lilac and black, the collection was elegant and wearable.
"This collection is incredibly fashin-led," Charlie added. "I think it's vital that hairdressers look to fashion and work with what we're seeing on the catwalks."
This is the second season that Charlie has presented as part of the British Fashion Council's Headonism initiative, an exhibition curated by famed milliner, Stephen Jones, to showcase emerging talent. Exhibiting as part of this prestigious collective demonstrates Charlie's ongoing sophisticated and intelligent trajectory.
As well as exhibiting, Charlie also collaborated with film maker, Zoe Hitchen, to bring his collection to life in a short Grease-inspired musical feature called 'Dirty School Dropout'.
