Central training group, which trains hairdressers in Essex and London,is supporting the first ever pledgeometer created by National Apprenticeship Week.
With the Joshua Galvin Academy in Bethnal Green and the Central Hairdressing Academy in Southend, Central Training Group used the new pledgeometer to pledge a total of 308 job vacancies. By the end of the Apprenticeship Week, a total figure of available apprenticeships will be published by those organising the 2014 event.
The National Apprenticeship Week was launched on today (Monday) by Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, celebrates apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
Research shows that, on average, a fully-trained apprentice can help businesses generate an extra £200 every week.
Managing Director of Central Training Group, Martin Kolton, took up an hairdressing apprenticeship himself at the age of 16 and has long been committed to developing opportunities for youth training. In January, his dedication was acknowledged when he was awarded an MBE.
He said: “Every year we fully support National Apprenticeship Week because it highlights the vitally important role apprentices serve within the world of business and the community.
“This year, more than ever, we are keen to let school leavers know about the opportunities that apprenticeships present, so that they are aware there is a viable alternative to staying on at school.
"“The National Apprenticeship Service coordinates the week and works diligently with businesses to make it come to life. It is our combined job to emphasise the value of this route into the work place. Apprentices are the lifeblood of our industry and they are a great asset to any business. I hope that this week will encourage salons to take on even more Apprentices.CTG will continue its work to introduce young people to the wonderful world of hairdressing."
