A festive campaign has been launched by fragrance brand TABAC in aid of Age UK, with the aim of combatting the loneliness felt by an increasing number of British male pensioners during the traditionally busy December period.
The ‘Shave The Day’ campaign will see participating UK barbers looking to give something back to older customers and residents in their local community nominate fellow industry peers to take part in offering much-needed conversation and complimentary treatments to those who find this time of year particularly isolating.
Christmastime, whilst joyous and fun for many, can be lonely for the older communities that don't have a family unit surrounding them. TABAC is now asking barbers up and down the UK to participate in opening their doors to older gentlemen in their local community for the day, on
Thursday 7th December, and offer them free services and treatments to coincide with #ShaveTheDay.
Any barbers willing to take part in the campaign will be featured on TABAC’s social media pages as an official location for Shave The Day openings.

Luke Dolan, Owner of Luke’s Barbershop, said:
“Age and growing old is a subject that the youth hide away from and one that older generations are confronted with daily. Age is inevitable and we may as well start to talk about it.
“As our communities change around us, like pubs closing, community centres shutting and halls closing their doors, our habitat is changing and our elderly suffer because of it. Barbershops are opening up at an amazing rate and they have community spirit at their very heart and that’s why I wanted to play my little part in bringing back some of these community values and get people talking to each other, young or old."
Barbershops interested in taking part in #ShaveTheDay can visit the
Facebook Page to register their interest and download a poster designed to help raise awareness of the cause amongst the local community.
