How do you make your British Hairdressing Business Awards entry a success? We ask a selection of previous winners for their top three tips for a winning entry...James Davies from Clay Salon & Spa in Oxshott, Surrey, won Independent Salon/Business Newcomer
- Read the brief thoroughly.
- Less is often more - remember to include only the information that is relevant.
- Ask a couple of people you trust and who know your business well to read your entry before you submit it. It's amazing how helpful a fresh pair of eyes can be.
Michael Van Clarke from Michael Van Clarke, London, won Retail Salon of the Year
- Give yourself enough time.
- Put a team together. One may be good at writing; another proofreading. One person could collate data and statistics, someone else may be better at final layout and presentation.
- Take yourself into different environments to read it through. Different spaces can help you see things from a different angle.
Mark Woolley from Electric Hairdressing, London, won Business Director of the Year
- Make sure you set aside enough time to cover all your bases, and make your entry as extensive as possible.
- Be concise and succinct with all the information you put forward. The judges have a lot of entries to get through, so make sure you get to the point.
- Think about presentation. It may be a cliché but first impressions matter, so make sure your entry counts.
Don't forget that the final date for entries to the 2011 British Hairdressing Business Awards is 5pm on Friday, 17th June 2011.
