Beyonce shows off short and sweet new crop

After years of wigs and weaves - and some exceptional hair over the years - Beyonce has reverted back to a nice and natural look with a newly-revealed crop. Queen Bey shared her new look Instagram, uploading two pictures of her with a freshly-shorn short style in a creamy blonde shade. Summer is the perfect time to lose the length, particularly with a mane like Bey's that no-doubt requires a great deal of upkeep - even if it is a weave or wig. Who wants to mess around with anything that requires effort during a baking-hot summer? It remains to be seen whether Bey will stick with the short look or revert back to something longer and more traditionally glam, but for now I'm giving her crop two thumbs up - I'm sure her hair will appreciate the break. HJ's former London Hairdresser of the Year, Karine Jackson, says: "This really suits Beyonce, but looks as though it’s been born from extensions coming out and the hair possibly being damaged underneath, so needing a bit of a cut. I wouldn't be surprised if we see her with long hair again. "It's a nice shape and suits her bone structure – I always think short hair really accents someone’s star quality and Beyonce just looks show-stopping as always. I'd style it differently though, with a bit more product to make it more polished and give it more texture as the cut itself is a bit mundane and boyish which is what makes me think it’s an in between stage rather than a definite style she’ll stick with. "Roots show up more dramatically on short crops and while they look cool around the front of the head, the regrowth at the back is a bit of a dramatic line – it’s worth keeping in mind on a shortie that all over colour looks amazing but there’s some very regular upkeep needed.”
