The summer months may see clients jet off to warmer climes and quieter periods in the salon, but there's no slowing down for celebrities who are keen to show off their new styles.And this summer the new styles that everyone seemed to care about were crops, with a selection of high profile stars going short.
Here are some of our favourite celebrity hairstyles, cuts and colours from August 2012.
Katy Perry
She's been just about every colour under the sun - from her natural blonde to pink, purple and blue - but this August saw Katy Perry enjoy her most striking transformation yet; the natural look.
Following her divorce from Russell Brand over the new year, 2012 gave Katy the opportunity to trial a whole host of new cuts and colours.
But it was her natural-looking black shade and effortless crop which wowed us the most - after months of My Little Pony-hued brights and exaggerated extensions, this strikingly paired-back look allowed Katy's inner beauty to shine through.
It may not have lasted long, but this was the perfect post-break-up look for Katy and proved that she doesn't need an entourage of hairdressers and makeup artists to look at her best.

Miley CyrusThe former child star well and truly gave up her Disney princess style this year, going bright and blonde and short.
But in August 2012, Miley made an even more drastic change to her style; cropping her locks even shorter and adding an edgy undercut to complement that bad-girl bleach blonde.
Styled in a punky mohawk or swept over to one side, this versatile look introduced a host of teenage Miley fans to the joys of short hair - how many undercuts followed this one, we wonder?

And proving that the undercut isn't just for the kids, 48-year-old Yasmin Le Bon also opted for a closely cropped style this summer.
Unveiling her edgy new do in August, Yasmin defied time with her grown-up take on the undercut, complementing it with a glossy brunette shade and straight lengths.
The versatile bob-length on the rest of her hair ensures that this cut can be hidden or played up as much as Yasmin wants - perfect for a model mum.
