HJ's 2010 British Hairdresser of the Year Angelo Seminara has created a variety of iconic hair images over the years. Here he chooses his favourite five and explains the stories behind the shoots.

"This is from my Game collection. I was inspired by nature in general, and everything that comes from the forest. I love the movement in this shot, and the contrast between the smooth, still top and the softly, flowing ends of the hair."

"This is my favourite shot of all time; I managed to capture exactly what I wanted and more. People think the model is hanging upside down, but she isn't. We used wind machines to create the look with the model's natural hair; there were no hair pieces. To create something like this you need to understand that hair will expand from the roots to the ends, so I invented a special technique, which took more than two hours to prepare to create this amazing finish."

"This shot oozes sophistication, innovation and balance - you can't find imperfection anywhere in this image."

"When I lived in Oslo, Norway, I loved looking at the children's hair and the way it had been organically cut by their parents. I thought it was so cute and innocent, so I replicated it in an adult version."

"This image is ethereal and timeless, and while it appears calm and effortless, it was actually one of the most challenging colour techniques I have ever achieved. It took four hours to colour every individual strand of hair."
