All in the name of charity
I've been manically busy with lots of charity events and working on lots of good causes recently which has been really really nice.
I was invited to the Super Mum Awards hosted by the Sun at the lovely Claridges, where I was very honoured to be sat with a fellow hairdresser super mum.
Her name is Lisa Schwarz and she is the owner of Spencers in Peterborough, a salon, which is named after her severely disabled son. Lisa is amazing.
She has equipped the salon for people with disabilites and has people with disabilities on work experience. It was just so motivating and inspiring to hear about her career and the challenges that she faces.
There were so many inspiration stories at the lunch that I was amazed and I was in tears by the end of it.
From there I was hot-footing it to one of my chosen charities, the British Association for Adoption and Fostering. As an adopted child myself, it is a charity that feels really personal to me and I am honoured to have been named as a patron.
It's nice having a public profile that I can lend support to charities and I also support Barnados and the Princes Trust as well, of course, as HAIRraising.
At the weekend, the Andrew Barton Salon team did a 5km charity for HAIRraising in Battersea Park. It all started quite competitive, but one of the team was a little nervous and has never run before so I stuck with him.
Elsewhere, I'm busy launching the book - which includes signing in shopping centres. I still can't quite believe that I have my own book on the shelves in WH Smiths!!!
I'm also about to double the size of my consumer range, Shiny Happy Hair, from 23 products to 45. New ranges Ultimate Blonde. Frizz Tamer and Gloss Boss come out in July and I hope that they will be as popular as the rest of the range.
