2014 aveda master jam arrives in london 2014 Aveda Master Jam Descends on London More than 1,500 international hairdressers were wowed at the 2014 Aveda Master Jam at Salon International, with shows by some of the most expressive teams in hairdressing presenting their latest collections. Following a welcome by UK general manager Darren Potter and vice president Amanda Le Roux, the event kicked off with a Wellness session, before the first showcase from the Aveda Canadian Artistic Team led by Ray Civello. Sustainable humans was the theme for the show, with flyway textures and edgy shapes. Ricardo Dinis, the global artistic director for hair cutting and technical specialist for Europe Jo McKay, took inspiration from the landscapes of Iceland. The pureness, white and freshness of the silhouettes, shapes and lines, were given a hint of soft colours to showcase the purity.  "As hairdressers we are used to structures and lines but we wanted to look at fluidity and a newness," said Jo, talking about the colour. Bastian Casaretto took the audience on a journey of Paris, taking a look at times gone by. Taking influences from the nightlife of '20s Berlin, colour was rich and deep while cuts were horizontal, soft and beautiful. The Van Michael team, who are based in the US and also have salons in Japan, presented their Gothic Lolita Collection, with styles ranging from a mullet to concave layers. They worked with texture, which was brought to life with dashes and peekaboo sections of pastels, petrols and pure tones. Their powerful Manga-like models were massively popular. [hji-gallery-legacy] Allen Ruiz, Aveda's global artistic director for hair styling, presented his beautiful Chameleon Stealth collection with simple techniques and stunning colour effects. President Dominique Conseil paid a moving tribute to founder Horst Rechelbacher, who died earlier this year, with images and videos from his inspirational life. The winner of the Fashionista Award was also announced, with Gary Ingham Hair taking home the UK prize. Celebrity favourite Tippi Shorter finally presented her texture show - mass of curls and yarn-like hair which she created with a crochet needle. The penultimate presentation was an energetic and eclectic show by Spanish team x-presion with their Down Under Collection, a collaboration of bright colours and unusual textures with Ian Michael Black and Janell Geason closing the show.
