Leah Walton has been named 2011 Young Hairdresser of the Year at the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham.
Leah, who is technical director of The Colour Room in Stockport and a member of the 2011 FAME Team, beat twenty finalists to take the prestigious title in a nail-biting live final.
The talented young hairdressers, all aged under 30, had already impressed judges with a photographic entry and on the day had just 45 minutes to recreate their image live on stage in front of a capacity audience and an expert panel of judges comprising Errol Douglas, Leo Bancroft, Mark Woolley, Michelle Royle of Your Hair magazine and HJi web editor, Kate Woods
After two live shows, the final six were chosen as: Terri Lowe, Lisa Shepherd; Abigail Sheldon, Royston Blythe; Jonathan Andrew, Cox McMillan; Leah Walton, The Colour Room; Rachelle Summerson-Wright, Janet Maitland and Joshua Goldsworthy, Goldsworthy's.
The finalists then presented their models in front of a 4,000-strong audience in the Clothes Show Fashion Theatre, before Leah was announced as winner with Jonathan Andrew as runner-up.
