X factor style: week six

x-factor-girls-x-factor-week-6.jpgSaturday night's X Factor saw the contestants tackle the music of Elton John, but while most acts nailed the diva's work, I was disappointed by the lack of imagination in most of their outfits. I can't believe that Cheryl had the most interesting hairstyle - love or hate those Mickey Mouse ears, at least they were interesting!

Cheryl's girls are definitely the most stylish contestants - and it's easy to see the mentor's influence on all three. This weekend Rebecca Ferguson was back to her usual sophisticated updo; combining a chunky braid with a large bun.

Cher Lloyd is actually morphing in to her beloved mentor; from the hand tattoo to her outfit and hair; squint, and that could be a picture of Ms Cole.

Katie Waissel lived to see another day, and although I liked the military jacket - which tied in nicely with her song choice of Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting - I'm not as keen on her headscarf. This is a look she wears everyday - she could have gone a bit more glam on stage.

Much as I love Wagner, I am beginning to see why people are getting fed up of him. Still, he embodied Elton better than any of the contestants in his gold alligator jacket, spangly shirt, and trademark dangly earrings. His hair looks blonder too - although perhaps it's picking up reflection from his jacket!

Mary Byrne is definitely on thin ice now. Although she's got a great voice, it's all starting to get a bit samey. What's going on with her hair? It's a bit like Cheryl's ears, but floppier, and with added headband.

I can't believe Aiden Grimshaw and his quiff are no longer with us - he had the best hair on the show, let alone out of the boys. Who will we admire now?

Certainly not Matt Cardle, who might have the voice, but definitely doesn't have the looks. I'm itching to sort out his style - I never thought I'd want him to put his hat back on, but I really do.

Paije Richardson embodied Elton quite well in his pink blazer and bow-tie, but I'm still bored of his flat-top. He calls himself a diva, and certainly dresses up to the role, but there's room for improvement on this hair.

And so to One Direction... What can I sat about these boys? They look the same every week, but it seems to be working! Here we have a right sweep, a forward sweep, a curly sweep, a left sweep, and an upward sweep. Who said the Bieber look wasn't versatile??
