Worst celebrity hair of 2010

It's been a great year for celebrity hairstyles - from Florence Welch and Rihanna's revivival of the redhead, to Frankie Sandford and Carey Mulligan making short sexy. However for every good celebrity hair day, there's always a few A-listers that don't quite live up to our stylish expectations - it's time to name and shame those celebrity sinners!Britney Spears
She may have millions in the bank, but that doesn't stop Britney Spears sporting some of the worst extensions we've ever seen. Visible tracks, bald patches, dodgy mis-matched colour - someone get this girl to a hairdresser!
Taylor Momsen
Yet another case of bad extensions in action, Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen has truly awful hair. Too long, too blonde, too fake - and while grungy roots can be cool, her black centre-parting just looks trashy - and try-hard.
Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi
Jersey Shore star Snooki reinvented the 'pouff' this year - that bouffant bump so beloved of the 90s, that we all thought we'd never see again. She deflated her hair about half way through the year, but for reinventing this retro style, Snooki, we salute you!
Mel B
The undercut emerged as a surprise trend this year - but while celebrities like Frankie Sandford carry it off with relative ease, Mel B looks more lobotomised than edgy! And what about growing this bald patch out? Wigs for the next few months it is.
Mena Suvari
There's a lot to be said for Mena's experimental updos - it's great to see a celebrity experimenting on the red carpet, rather than sticking to the usual blonde/extensions/waves formula. Still, there's a fine line between experimental and just plain weird, and these two fashion week looks fall firmly in to the latter category.
Drew Barrymore
Ombre hair has been another surprise hit this year, with the two-tone trend spotted on some of the most stylish heads. While the likes of Alexa, Rachel Bilson, and Erin Wasson carry off the balayage look with ease, Drew's dirty roots have too much of a contrast - and the hippy texture doesn't help.
Justin Bieber
We couldn't not include the boy who spawned one thousand imitators - including most of X Factor's One Direction, and even Rihanna. Bieber's barnet is verging on bowl-cut territory, and probably entails a trim every couple of days to enable him to see.
Katherine Heigl
Katherine often looks to the past for retro inspiration, and carries off the Marilyn look with perfect red carpet poise. Unfortunately this 80s bouffant just looks dated, and manages to be incredibly ageing at the same time.
Katie Holmes
We loved Katie's bob, but these rag doll ringlets would be better suited to her four-year-old daughter Suri. Unflattering, naff, and more often seen on those creepy porcelain dolls they advertise in magazines, ringlets are not a look any woman over 18 should attempt.
Hayden Panettiere
There are very few female celebrities with super-short hair, so in theory it's a thumbs up to Heroes pin-up Hayden for lopping off her long blonde locks. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to be able to style at all, as documented by the above two hair-fails.
