Will dorian gray bring back victorian cool?

Published 19th Jan 2010

Ben Barnes Dorian Gray.jpgThe latest screen outing for the story of Dorian Gray leaves a lot to be desired for movie-goers. Definitely a case of style over content, I'd say, but it's the style I'm interested in! And some of the men's looks - including clothes and hair - were classic cool.

Taking the spotlight in his beautifully fitted top coats, waistcoats, starched shirt collars and cravats was young Brit actor, Ben Barnes. Fellow men's style blog Cool Men's Hairstyles described the look as "a sexy shaggy look for his naturally wavy hair". It's definitely a look that suits his chiselled features, with textured waves cut to the top of the shoulders - and a beautiful glossy shine that it's unlike any products available during the reign of Queen Victoria would actually have achieved!

With other Victorian blockbuster including Sherlock Holmes drawing big crowds, it will be interesting to see whether hair trends for 2010 take influence from this era of long-haired gents.
