The trends
Wella Professionals reveal Trend Vision 2011: inspiration for cutting edge directions next season.

Created by Wella Professionals Global Creative Directors Eugene Souleiman and Josh Wood, the exciting and dynamic portfolio of trends will set the pace for next season.

Now in its 13th year of setting the trends for style and colour, Trend Vision 2011 was created to bring cutting edge inspiration to the salon, both for hairdressers and clients.

Using their exclusive insider backstage experiences at fashion shows across the world, Eugene and Josh have created four innovative looks for 2011: Lumina, Glamazon, Passionata and Polaris.

Josh explains: "We try to work out what message is happening in fashion, and how we can relate that to what's happening in our world at Wella Professionals."

Lumina

Lumina is set around the future of sophistication, where state-of-the-art science and technology are propelling luxury to new levels. Inspired by the richness of experimental creations, sensorial design and innovative architecture, innovation meets elegance.

For hair, this gives a futuristic twist to the precise, asymmetrical cut. These are pure shapes that have natural fluidity thanks to customized, curved lines that flatter the face. Feminine and sophisticated, the hair boasts incredible mirror-like shine. This luminosity and liquid movement are enhanced by subtle tones strategically placed for maximum effect.

Glamazon

Primitive raw energy transplanted to the city provides the drive for this look. Urbanites with a passion for nature have embraced wild adventure. Her wild state of mind leads to strong, glamorous looks that rely on earthy shades with striking colour accents.

Tribal-inspired multi-textures and golden tones give this look an untamed femininity. There is a boldness from the controlled wildness of the hair combined with exaggerated volume for instant impact. Colour is inspired by rich browns and gorgeous golds of the Amazon scattered through the ends of the hair to add shimmering glamour that doesn't look overdone.

Passionista

Inspired by the trend for assertive sensuality, new sophisticated codes of passion are setting hearts racing.

Cascading waves combine with tumbling curls to create an elegant effect, full of movement and body. It's a new red; bold, strong, passionate and vivacious. It's glamorous, very sophisticated and extremely sexy.

Polaris

A new powerful, yet feminine elegance is emerging as charisma makes a dynamic comeback and black becomes the definitive statement colour. This is a trend of contrasts; daring and dramatic, softness contrasts with sharpness.

A highly defined, statement cut, this look is born from sculptured shapes with precision styling. A high-shine finish adds to the dramatic impact. This look is about negative and positive, with very dark and very light colours.
