Wella Professionals and UNICEF are introducing their Making Waves charity partnership to the UK and Ireland in 2013, offering two hairdressers the opportunity to share their skills on a mentoring trip to Brazil.

Making Waves is a long-term fundraising program which mentors vulnerable young people in emerging countries, transforming their lives through hairdressing education and providing them with life skills that will enable them to earn a living and support themselves and their families. To date, the program has raised more than £680,000 in Brazil and Romania.

This September, two Wella hairdressers from the UK and Ireland will be given the opportunity to join the initiative, sharing their skills on a mentoring trip of a lifetime.

UK salons will also be able to support the charity through a series of fundraising events and in-salon through a unique retailing programme - for each specially marked item sold, Wella will provide funding for one half-hour training class for a young person in Brazil.

Daniel Minney, managing director of Wella UK and Ireland says: "We are thrilled that Wella UK and Ireland is supporting Making Waves with UNICEF. We hope this is the first of many waves that Wella, UNICEF and the hairdressing community in the UK and Ireland can make in improving the lives of vulnerable young people."

To apply to be part of the mentoring trip to Brazil, speak to your Wella Account manager - applications open on 14 January.
