Wella Professionals Hush Club hosted the Fellowship for British Hairdressing's Award Winners evening, with a host of top talent presenting a selection of their winning looks.
Winners from Wella's Trend Vision, Goldwell's Color Zoom, L'Oreal Colour Trophy, Balmain Extensionist of the Year and HJ's 2013 British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, talked about their inspiration behind their looks, their steps to success and what winning has meant to them.
The evening kicked off with HJ's
Eastern Hairdresser of the Year Angelo Vallillo and Balmain Extensionist of the Year Richard Phillipart create looks live on stage. Richard used glitter spray to contrast with textures, while Angelo showcased short, feminine and sexy shapes.
Sophia Hilton presented her take on the ombre technique, which won her the 2013 L'Oreal Colour Trophy, while working with knotted rope to recreate one of the amazing images from her HJ's 2013
Newcomer of the Year collection.
Wella Trend Vision Colorist winner Sean Nolan from HOB Salons and Young Talent winner Lucy Took from Marc Antoni Hair talked about using cut and colour to create an overall look, while Lisa Whiteman from Webster Whiteman presented her winning style from Goldwell's Color Zoom, and talked about what it is like to be involved in an international competition.
The evening culminated with HJs'
London Hairdresser of the Year Sean Dawson and
British Hairdresser of the Year Akin Konizi talking about the latest trends. Hairdressing is subjective and Sean said hairdressers need to be respectful of the work they see. "When you see an image or a collection you might not like it, but you have to respect the execution and the skill that has gone into it," he stressed.
Akin presented two looks from his British collection - revealing that the blonde bob was his favourite at the time." The model wasn't professional but she knew how to carry off a strong hair cut and the finished image was really eyecatching," he said.
