P&G-Salon-opening.jpgP&G Beauty and Grooming have opened three pop-up salons to offer hair and beauty treatments to athletes, their mums and the media during the Olympic Games.

Located at the Olympic village, in the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre and at the Wella World Studio, all three studios will offer a range of treatments that include professional hair cuts, skin consultations, make-up and patrioric nail art, while the Wella World Studio will also be colouring guests' hair.

All treatments are complimentary and the experienced team of hair and beauty professionals is expecting to offer up to 25,000 professional services during the course of the Games.

The main goal of the salons is to say thank you to the mums who have dedicated their time, effort and love into helping their children reach the pinnacle of their sports; a concept that has been two years in the making.

Daniel Minney, managing director P&G Salon Professional UK and Ireland, explains: "Back at the Vancouver Games we got the insight that it is very tricky for athletes to get tickets for the people who had nurtured them and support them, their parents. So someone at P&G had the idea that we could really support the mums of Olympians.

"For Wella, our whole ethos is about the hairdresser being the hero behind the hair. When someone walks out of the hair salon looking fantastic people don't go and congratulate the hair stylist - the person whose skill created the look - they say 'you look fantastic' to the person, so that's why we thought it was a really nice link with the Olympians mums".

Visitors to the opening day of the Wella World Studio included the mums of Bejing 2008 Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton and marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe.

In addition to offering beauty services, P&G also donated 150 pairs of tickets to the Opening Ceremony to guests on the salon's opening day.

"It was a really emotional moment," says Adil Mehboob-Khan, global president P&G Salon Professional. "I don't think we realised what a huge gift it was until we saw the mums' reactions."
