Wella Education officially launches its degree-level hair colour qualification at Glasgow Clyde College - the Wella Colour Higher Level Diploma.

Wella and Glasgow Clyde College has hosted an official launch event to celebrate its most advanced hair colour qualification to date, the Wella Colour Higher Level Diploma. This is the first time that the hairdressing industry has offered a degree-level certificate of this kind, making it a major step forward for recognising the professionalism and technical acumen needed to be a true colour expert.

The Wella Colour Higher Level Diploma has been carefully crafted by Glasgow Clyde College and Wella’s senior education team. The official launch for the Wella Education colour diploma took place at the College and was attended by salon owners, industry experts, college lecturers and faculty heads from across Scotland, and the Principal and Vice Principal of Glasgow Clyde College.

The event presented an opportunity for the Wella Education and Glasgow Clyde teams to join forces and share the syllabus for the new course, while showcasing its industry significance. Glasgow Clyde College MCMI Curriculum and Quality Leader, Julie Wales, was joined by Curriculum Manager for Hairdressing, Donna McCallum, along with Wella’s Senior Education Manager, Paul Fensome, and Manchester Studio Leader, Katie Howarth, who were the driving force behind this new colour diploma.

Katie explains: “The Wella Colour Higher Level Diploma is SCQF level 9, making it an incredibly challenging course for any colourist. We’ve ensured that this qualification delivers so much more than you would expect. For example it explores academic writing, how the economy impacts your colour business, leadership in hairdressing, psychology, safeguarding your clients, responsibility and much more. Modules have been designed to push colourists to their limit."

The Wella Colour Higher Level Diploma is only available for colourists who hold the existing Wella Colour Expert certificate. It takes up to 18 months to complete and will arm colourists with the most in-depth colour qualification available. Following the intensive learning journey, students will graduate at Glasgow University in a formal ceremony to celebrate their achievement. For further information, click here.
