HJI Hearts logo.bmpemma-watson-crop-small.jpgPutting her role as Hermione Granger well and truly behind her, Emma Watson has lopped of her locks to reveal a startlingly chic crop.

Although it's a move that has divided her fans, Emma is delighted with her new look.

"Oh my God, it was the most liberating thing!" she told EW.com. "The stylist just grabbed the back of my head and took a whole ponytail of hair out. It felt amazing. I love it."

Emma, 20, has had to keep the same schoolgirl do for the past ten years, in keeping with her role as Hermione in the hugely popular Harry Potter film series.

"I missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through," she says. "I've wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, 'Right. This is it.'"

The chic cut was created by New York stylist Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon, who earlier in the week wrote on Twitter: 'Rodney cut Emma Watson's hair, stay tuned for the results... you will be amazed!!!'

Louise Wood, founder of L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2009 finalist salon The Hair Advice Centre, Englefield Green, Surrey says:

"I love this new look; it's so reminiscent of Twiggy's urchin haircut in the sixties. Emma has the same delicate, doe-eyed look, so it suits hair down to a tee. The cropped 'do is perfect for Emma's oval face shape as it accentuates her beautiful features but can also work wonders for rounder faces - similar to actresses Michelle Williams or Carey Mulligan. It's actually really refreshing to see celebs like Emma going for these fab shorter styles, they look amazing and hopefully the trend for shorter tresses will continue to reign!"
