Use colour to bring a hair cut to life

What would the world be like in black and white? Colour brings everything to life - and when it comes to a haircut, a splash of hue takes it to another dimension. A simple bob will look alive with a dark chocolate shade, or a special technique will make fine hair appear thick and voluminious. And when it comes to photography, colour really makes a difference to any hairstyle.

Ashley Gamble from Royston Blythe in Wolverhampton entered this collection for HJ's Newcomer of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards. While the cut is already strong, using colour to outline the contour - and keeping the rest of the image monochome - is genius and really creates an eye-ctaching photograph.
