[updated] salons in wales can open in march but delay for mobile services Hairdressers and barbers working in salons based in Wales can reopen for appointments from Monday 15 March, the Welsh government has announced. However, the NHBF has confirmed that hair and barbering mobile services can only resume from Monday 15 March if there is not a reasonably practical alternative to a home appointment. For example:
  • Where the client physically cannot leave the home
  • Where leaving the home is likely to have a significant detrimental effect on wellbeing.
Hairdressers/barbers must wear a Type II mask and face visor for the entire time they are in a client’s home. The NHBF is seeking clarity to understand when mobile services in Wales will be able to fully resume. The decision means that beauty businesses (that is close contact services, which includes nail salons and eyebrow bars) must remain closed until 12 April, in line with England’s re-opening of non-essential businesses. The current measures are reviewed in three weeks’ time. People in Wales have been living under level four coronavirus measures since before Christmas, but the Welsh Government is now relaxing lockdown rules, with stay at home rules replaced by a requirement to 'stay local'. First Minister Mark Drakeford said in a live announcement : “The journey out of lockdown begins in earnest in Wales this weekend. Four people from two households will be able to meet outdoors for any purpose and will be able to meet in gardens as well which I know will be very widely appreciated. "From Monday hairdressers and barbers will be able to resume work. From 22 March shops that are already open will be able to sell the full range of goods and provided numbers continue to improve. On 29th March we will reopen self-contained accommodation so people in Wales will be able to go to a caravan and have a few days away. " In Wales, from Monday 15 March people will be also able to take part in sports such as outdoor basketball, tennis and golf. Facilities will reopen from Saturday 13 March. Another major change is that schools will reopen from Monday 15 March for some pupils.
