Celebrating black hairstylists, Tress Gala will be held on Monday 28 October 2024 at The Londoner Hotel from 7:00pm-12:00am.
Hosted by the all-in-one software company for independent stylists Tressly, this is the second-ever Tress Gala and it follows the success of last year's inaugral event.
Set during Black History Month, Tressly will be celebrating the professionals behind the UK's thriving Black hair styling industry. It will be a sate space to connect and celebrate with an after-party.
Hairdressers Journal International are proud media partners for the second-year running.
What is the purpose of Tress Gala?
Black women are reported to spend six times more than other ethnicities on hair services, however only 302 of the 35,000 (0.8%) registered hair salons in the UK, cater to Afro hair.
This has given rise to a large number of freelance Black hair stylists and hair professionals operating in the UK.
The aim of this event is to celebrate these stylists, create a space for them to connect with each other and express their creativity through hair.
What will happen on the night?
After a welcome reception from 7pm, guests will be seated and listen to a welcome address from Tressly founder Antoinette Ale. Following a dinner, there will be six industry awards presented by category sponsors.
The best textured hairstylists will be awarded across various specialisms. They will submit themselves for consideration. Winners will be selected by an esteemed panel of high profile textured hairstylists. The categories are...
• Best Natural Hair Specialist
• Best Braider
• Best Wig Specialist
• The Entrepreneur Award
After dessert and entertainment, there will be three sponsor award winners crowned – Best Dressed, Best Hair and Most Creative Look.
And of course, there will be an after party until late!
