#trending: chocolate mauve; this season's must-have hue As summer moves to autumn we've spotted the chocolate mauve colour trend all over Instagram. Featuring stunning swirls of chocolate, mauve and golden tones, we caught up with Harriet Muldoon, Head Colourist at Blue Tit for her tips on the best techniques to achieve this trend. 'Autumn is here and a great way to embrace the season is by taking summer shades to richer depths. At Blue Tit we love the new mauve colour trend, which showcases rich chocolate shades with a hint of summer pastels peeking through. A great way of accomplishing the mauve trend is by using a technique we have introduced at Blue Tit called Miraging. Miraging is a blending of bold or contrasting colour patterns within the hair, concealing them with a veil of a natural base created by taking a section around the parting and using it to conceal or ‘mirage’ the colours underneath. This was inspired by the concept of mirages in the desert; you can see something there, but you can’t tell what it is. It's best used with the Davines Flamboyage Meche, which allows you to create seamless blends and helps to control placement. Back to back Flamboyage strips using pastels and darker richer shades are melted in together to give a soft, but full colour impact.' Images from instagram.com/hannahthepainter.
