Trend watch: boys going blonde
Justin Bieber Image by: Broadimage/REX/Shutterstock Do blondes really have more fun? Well as far as Zayn Malik & Justin Bieber are concerned it looks like they do! Men's hair is having a bit of a moment with a surge in high profile celebs opting for lighter locks. A trend that can easily be transerred into salon, encourage your male clients to take the plunge and lighten up their look for spring. Katie Allan, Creative Manager at Charles Worthington, gave us some tips on how to make it work for your clients: "Champagne blonde is becoming more and more popular for men thanks to Zayn and Justin Bieber. Colour blocking with hair colour is more on trend for men, just like the 'shoe shine' was on trend in the 90's. For more confident and bold characters, bright blonde is a way to stand out and be noticed, with social media having such an impact on our lives now, it's all about who has more followers, and who gets more likes, so they need to be posting dramatic changes! For darker tones, bright blonde is more difficult to achieve compared to working onĀ a lighter base. When hair is short it is easier to lift up and the colour can be applied twice on the ends if necessary. Be sure to have a consultation first to check what shade of blonde is achievable with your client and mentionĀ maintenance will be high as shorter hair will reveal root growth faster."
