Tracey Devine, current Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year, recently spent a day mentoring the 2014 FAME Team and showcasing some of the session styling tips she's picked up over her years backstage.
The FAME Team got to see two styles that Tracey had created for fashion shows, including a closer look at essential session styling techniques including hair stitching, twists and pleats.
After a demonstration session, the team had a chance to put what they'd learnt into practice by picking up their own sewing kits and recreating the techniques which they'd observed in the morning. Using neon thread and a needle rather than traditional pins and grips, they all managed to master some new hair-up techniques.
The day also served as a reminder to the team that they could make it no matter where in the country they are based. Tracey's successful salon group, Angels, is in Aberdeen and she shared plenty of advice about how she juggled her business with more creative work.
FAME Team member Simon Tuckwell commented: "As none of us live or work in London, it was so refreshing to see first hand if you have the talent, the skill and the passion, you can be based anywhere in the country and still be top of your game."
