Toni&guy charitable foundation hits the half million mark
Eveyone knows that TONI&GUY goes hand in hand with cutting-edge, high fashion hairdressing; but what's not so well known is that the company's charity arm, the TONI&GUY Charitable Foundation, is hard at work - and play - raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for those in need.
Established in 2003, the Charitable Foundation was the brainchild of TONI&GUY's directors who had a vision for the company to give their support 'to relieve the suffering and improve the quality of life for all those in distress'.
The initial focus has been to help children who are sick, disabled and disadvantaged. The Charitable Foundation has already pledged £700,000 to fund the refurbishment of a new ward at the Variety Club Children's hospital at King's College Hospital and they are well on their way to hitting that target.
"So far the Charitable Foundation's biggest achievement has been reaching the half-a-million pounds mark for fundraising," says Toni.
"This is an extra special accomplishment for us as all of the money raised has been from events organised by TONI&GUY staff, friends and family.
"We've had various initiative such as garden parties, golf days, marathons and highland walks - the list is endless!"
While encouraging all of their 230 UK salons to partcipate in their worthy cause sounds like a challenge, Toni has been impressed by how committed to the cause the staff are and at the innovative ideas that teams up and down the country have come up with.
"It's amazing that we have really engaged TONI&GUY employees nationwide. Our staff have a feeling of ownership over the Charitable Foundation and are so proud of it. This feeling of unity is an achievement all on its own.
"We already have some really popular evenst such as National Hair Day, where TONI&GUY salons across the country cut hair and donate the takings to the Charitable Foundation and salons have done some really fun things, including spending the night in a haunted hotel like our TONI&GUY salon in Edinburgh did/
Having enjoyed their own successes, TONI&GUY are urging all hairdressers across the country to help to give something back by raising more awareness organising more fundraising events.
He concludes: "I would suggest doing something that is really good fun and that the whole salon can get involved in. Not only are you raising money for a good cause, but it's a really good team building exercise for you and your staff.
"It doesn't really matter what it is, but if you believe in what you are doing and are passionate about what you are raising money for then the rest is easy, you just have to give it your all and put your heart and soul into it."
