Tigi inspirational youth make their debut at salon international

The TIGI Inspirational Youth team made their stage debut at Salon International 2013, putting all of the skills that they've developed over the last six months to good use in their first ever live presentation.
Now in its ninth year, TIGI Inspirational Youth sees talented young stylists from across the UK put through their paces in cutting, colouring, styling, trend-forecasting and presenting skills - in short, a masterclass in every aspect of working as a professional hairdresser.
This year saw Anthony Seaman from The Den, Chantelle Regan from Molbys, Emma Fleming from Guys & Dolls, Jenna Morris from Studio One, Jess Lyon from Yazz, Jodi Connelly from Janet Maitland, Kim Shaw from Samuel Peter Hairdressing, Lauren Dickinson from Studio 11 Hair & Beauty, Samantha Andrews from Harpers, Tom Green from Mova and Amber Bird from Michael John make the grade - and make their debut live on stage at Salon International.
[hji-gallery-legacy]TIGI international creative director, Anthony Mascolo, opened the show, describing Inspirational Youth as, "the DNA of TIGI" and while he admitted that it could be challenging at times, ultimately provided the future of British hairdressing.
What followed was a diverse show, demonstrating the very diverse tastes and talents of the young team. Inspirations came from high fashion to street style, with punk and grunge emerging as hot favourites from the stylists and represented through dishevelled waves, slicked-down wet-look panels and textured, piled-high plaits.
Any nerves were impossible to detect, with the talented group presenting with the confidence and ease of hairdressers who'd been doing this their whole careers - not just six short months.
- The show also saw TIGI global creative director, Nick Irwin, reveal that TIGI Inspirational Youth will be going global for 2014, starting in the US and Germany - watch this space for more details!
