The second week of The X Factor saw yet more high-fashion looks over two days of shows. We spoke to the show's official hairdresser, Jamie Stevens, for his low-down on the best looks from backstage."I loved Ella's hair this weekend, an on trend messy top knot incorporating fishtail plaits for high-fashion style. This is a great look for her as it's not too serious and in keeping with her youth, while still reflecting key catwalk trends.
"I pulled Ella's hair into a tight clean ponytail and secured with a bungee, leaving the front section out. I then backcombed the ponytail area with a pintail comb, getting right into the roots to give it a strong foundation, leaving a fluffy texture at the ends and spraying each section as I went along.
"I left out a two-inch piece of hair from the middle for the plait. With the backcombed area, I created the shape by looking in the mirror and pinning where necessary. I plaited the pieces of hair left in the ponytail then pulled apart to create a really messy texture, before laying the plait to the front and around the top knot and securing with pins.
"For the front area the hair was back-combed in horizontal sections, then brushed on the surface gently with a Mason & Pearson in the direction it was to be placed. The hair was pinned around the side and secured into the top knot."
