Straight Talking

Thought straight hair was a fad of the past? Think again. As the fashion world continues to take its cue from the 90s, catwalk trends point to a revival of the sleek look.

straight-texture.jpgIntroducing a new selection of straightening tools for 2010 is label.m. Its Titanium Straightening Collection consists of two irons with floating titanium plates. The range is made up of the Session Pro-Straightener, and a miniature version.

The Arrojo S125 from Izunami is another innovative offering to the market. Featuring unique temperature control, each plate is regulated independently to maintain an even temperature for more consistent results. The iron regulates the temperature of each plate five times per second, to prevent the iron cooling down as you style.

Team Texture

Cloud Nine launched TheO in June, and it is already being touted as a must-have. The high-tech pod heats rollers to 130°C in less than four seconds, warming from the core out for easy handling. The lightweight rollers include temperature indicators so you know when to remove them, and use the latest soft-grip technology so pins aren't required.

mycurl.jpgFor those still wanting to work with their existing tools, Australian stylist Dario Cotroneo has developed Mycurl. This unique accessory works in conjunction with any straighteners to deliver consistent waves and curls.

Also catering for texture lovers, Hair Tools has just launched a range of curling tongs, under the Haito brand. The Heatwave Hair Curler is available in four different sizes, from a narrow 13mm tong for tight ringlets to a 25mm width for looser, more natural waves. The chrome barrel provides smooth results with no kinks, while the 360-degree swivel cord promises to make styling easier.

Crimping has been creeping back on to the catwalk for a couple of seasons, and with Sarah Jessica Parker sporting the look in Sex and the City 3, it's surely not long until it makes its mainstream comeback. Many brands have also introduced crimping irons for 2010, including BaByliss PRO, which relaunched the original Nano Titanium Mini Crimper in June.
