As Michelle Williams receives rave reviews for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn, we take a look back at the stars who have attempted to emulate the Hollywood legend's trademark bright blonde voluminous curls.

A vintage look synonymous with old-school glamour, it's no surprise that this look has remained a favourite for stars attempting to emulate some classic silverscreen style.

"I'm not a fan of this style on Katherine. Although I can see the look that she is going for I think it falls short.  Yes, it's a take on a bouncy 1950's set but the key to Marilyn's hair was her perfect peroxide blonde and I don't think Katherine's blonde is a striking enough shade to pull it off. I also think that the lift at the front of the style accentuates her deep forehead. Not quite Marilyn enough for me I'm afraid!"

Naomi Watts
"Marilyn's hair will never go out of style and Naomi's take on the 1950's set makes for an ultra-glamorous, red-carpet look. This classic style is great for those who want to create more movement and body in their hair and, what's more, the mid-length voluminous style looks great on almost every face shape."

"This is a great look for Paris - she has the glam factor and the confidence to carry this style off, which is a must if you are going to emulate Marilyn's iconic look. The key to pulling this strong look off is ensuring the hair is well finished, with the waves defined and precise with every hair in place. As we approach the festive period everyone wants to look at their most glamorous and star-inspired looks are top of the Christmas wish list - these classic styles ooze star quality."

Rachel McAdams
"I absolutely love Rachel's style. She really works that vintage look and no matter what era she is experimenting with, she always looks fantastic. This Marilyn style is no exception. These starlet-style waves really set off her honey hues and glossy locks perfectly. Rachel has amazing red-carpet style."
