The fellowship's teams latest mentoring sessions with industry experts The Fellowship for British Hairdressing teams continue their mentoring days through the summer months. Find out what have they been learning recently. The Colour Project team had the opportunity to spend the mentoring day with Grace and Marlon from Brooks and Brooks. Simultaneously, the Barber Project learnt from the internationally-acclaimed barbering expert - Hayden Cassidy.

An inspirational day with Grace Dalgleish and Marlon Hawkins

Fellowship’s Colour Project team had a fun, hands-on mentoring session with professional colourists - Grace Dalgleish and Marlon Hawkins. The theme of the session was “thinking outside the box”. On the day, the separated in three groups team had to work with a box. The box was full of various objects with the aim to inspire the artists to come up with ideas for colour and technique. Next, the teams had to create a mood board to express their ideas and later produce wefts, showcasing the colour they had been inspired to create. Even Grace and Marlon were given a box, filled with random items, from which they both created unique techniques for two finished colour looks on their own models [used as a leading image]. Lea Shaw from Rural Fringe Hair shared how being able to use her imagination in a new way is wonderful. She loved seeing the finished result of her team’s work, which started with a box of random objects. Lea also added her appreciation for Grace and Marlon’s work process. She explained: “The way they come up with the ideas for collections and work in general, thinking away from hairdressing and typical hair tools, allows them to create beautiful, truly unique results.”
