Terry calvert praises clipso's young superstars

Clipso have recognised its generation of upcoming talented hairdressers in its Clipso Young Superstars awards. The annual awards are categorised into NVQ Level 1, 2 and 3 and pit Clipso and Addiction salon trainees against one another to win prizes including Selfridges vouchers, £200 Excellent Edges scissors donated by ADSN Solutions, and hair goodies from L’Oreal Professionel, Fudge, and Tangle Teezer. The event was organised by Emma Basset, assistant manager at Clipso Watford, and the audience were kept enthralled with the impressive talents of Clipso trainees from first to third year level each presenting a complete look model and each having two minutes to explain their concept, technique and over all look.The competitors were then judged by renowned session stylist Adam Reed, PR expert Samantha Grocutt, and award winning hairdressers Robert Eaton and Mark Woolley.

First Year

Winner – Saskiia Marsh, Clipso WatfordRunner up – Alex Gordon, Clipso Watford

Second Year

Winner – Sarah Grey, Clipso BrightonRunner up – Jessica Pottern, Clipso Watford

Third Year

Winner – Madeleine McAndrew, Clipso WatfordRunner up – Stella Czarnecki, Clipso Watford

Men’s

Winner – Stella Czarnecki, Clipso WatfordA new award, Best Mood Board, was also presented to Stella Czarnecki by Adam Reed for her impressive and creative dual men’s and women’s mood board.Terry Calvert presented the Young Superstar Overall Award to Madeleine McAndrew from Clipso, who also win a trip to Barcelona courtesy of L’Oreal Professionnel as part of her prize. Terry Calvert, managing director of the Clipso group, said: “Each year our trainees give us more and more to be proud off. "The first years are always such a revelation to use because in most cases it’s the first time they’ve ever presented to an audience and they really give it their all. "Listening to the judges' comments and enthusiasm towards the talent coming through, it just cements our educational focus and that the Clipso Academy is producing consistently excellent hairdressers. "These competitions are important for team morale and enable us create that strong team spirit and talented hairdressing that Clipso is renowned for.”
